About [holandaluz] fotografias

After finishing photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in my hometown The Hague, The Netherlands in 1996 I walked different creative directions as well in photography as in video. I found my place in corporate, travel & interior photography traveling to different corners of the world from my base in sunny Southern Spain.

Feria de Mijas – procession

Thursday, September 18th, 2008

The annual Fair of Mijas was held from the 7th Sept. till the 11th lots of food, drinks and party, with some great names on stage every night (lack of time to photograph this year) and of course the Holy Procession of the Virgen of the Rock (Virgin de la Pena). The local newspaper called me to register the 5 hour procession on holy Monday. So put on my walking shoes to be ready for the very slow long walk to hopefully create some nice pictures to run in the paper. The trouble is that all these procession have been done for ages and its hard to find a new angle….. D700 with F2.8/28-70mm & f2,5/105mm

Home town bushfire

Friday, September 5th, 2008

Last night in the early evening a bushfire started in de Sierra de Mijas, just behind my village in the province of Malaga. They say it has been lit. In total there were 4 fires going on. All emergency troops from the nearby villages came to help
What a shame!

New York Times & International Herald Tribune

Monday, September 1st, 2008

Got a phonecall from Carter of the International Herald Tribune if I would like to shoot some buildingsites on the costa del sol for an article about the construction crisis in Spain. Did´nt take me long to say yes…. Nice thing was that it ran both in the International Herald Tribune and also in the New York Times.
