About [holandaluz] fotografias

After finishing photography at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in my hometown The Hague, The Netherlands in 1996 I walked different creative directions as well in photography as in video. I found my place in corporate, travel & interior photography traveling to different corners of the world from my base in sunny Southern Spain.

Yunnan, China

Sunday, April 11th, 2010

Finally I put some of the China pics on the blog that I shot on assignment back in September. These are Chinese etnic minorities farming near Pingbian at the Red River Plantation down in the province of Yunnan, only 7 km away from the Vietnamese border. I had the grateful opportunity to shoot them at the plantations nursery. After a lot of initial giggeling I won their trust and with the help of a translator explained what we were doing. Lovely, friendly and happy people……–V

Raquel

Tuesday, April 6th, 2010

For the make-up book we are working on we also ‘did’ my friend and dancer Raquel. Marta did the make-up and postproduction again. Light is setup in a traditional clamp-beauty light; 75cm softbox above eyes and an translucent umbrella from the bottom up with just enough space between them for my lens to stick through. Great look Raquel has and easy to work with. For this book we only work with amateur-models. Its is really cool to see how some of the girls really develop. For me it is quite a challenge to get out of them what I want. More to come –V
